AIT flavour at Chaos 2010

It's been over a month-and-a-half since the Annual Cult Fest of IIMA (www.iima-chaos.com/), and my most memorable moments from the extravaganza were pretty similar to what I was used to in undergrad - watching the choreo team from my alma mater bring the house down!

Reddy & Co. responded enthusiastically to my out-of-the-blue invite for the inter-college fest at WIMWI, and how! The minute I saw the guys in their alloted 'dorm', I felt more at home here in Ahmedabad than I have in the last 9 months. It was a surreal feeling - catching up with some old friends in Reddy, Rawat, Gary, Kathait, Bisht et al, making the acquaintance of the recently blooded FE's and chatting with them all at length about the goings-on back in AIT.

On the day of the choreo, AIT was one among 4 teams to qualify for the final. This was despite the fact that our boys did not really have any stage props to speak of. The other contestants had gone all out in bringing not only several props, but also large contingents of dancers to fill up the stage. However, the flips, stunts and coordination more then made up for Team AIT, and they stood out for pure quality of the dance.

In the finals, I was happy to work the lights for the team, as the LKP transformed into a dance battlefield. The boys performed out of their skin on the grandest stage they had ever performed in. Reddy and 'Kaka' Rawat were both considered for the 'Best Dancer' award, which finally went to Kaka. Although the team didn't win the choreo competition, they had truly made an impact. That being said, Team AIT was not done. They also took place in Street Dance competition, and here the boys were peerless - the Humdum crew left a wondrous impression on both the judges and the crowd, finally walking back to Pune with their pockets loaded. Reddy was crowned the 'Best Dancer' here.

I remember feeling a gush of pride when several of my batchmates came up to me and said, 'Those guys were from your college, right? Kya mast nachte hain! The best dancers by far!'

Other highlights of Chaos 2010 for me included the rollicking Sonu Nigam concert, winning a Fastrack in JAM (old AIT flavour in this too) and many other interesting events throughout the fest. However, the very fact that my college choreo team made it all the way here and left behind many admirers in their wake, brings a wide nostalgic smile to my face.
